RECIPE Contest

Bakers! Enter Your Small-Batch Best…and Win!

If you’re a baker at heart, it doesn’t matter that you’re putting all that effort into baking cookies, muffins and other treats for just two. The rewards are the same…the tantalizing aroma that fills the kitchen and the delicious homemade flavor. Plus, baking small batches means less waste.

Now, your efforts can really pay off with our “Small-Batch Baking” contest. Please send us the recipes that always go over big at your house. Here’s what we’re looking for:

    Small-Batch Baking
  • Biscuits — Drop or cutout, herb or cheesy, rye or wheat…the variety is endless. Please share recipes that make 6-8 biscuits or less.
  • Muffins — Fruity, nutty, savory or sweet, we’re eager to try tasty recipes that fit perfectly in a 6-cup muffin tin.
  • Breads — Do your mini yeast loaves rise to any occasion? We’d love to sample raisin, marble, sourdough and more.
  • Breakfast Rolls — Send your best small-batch donuts, cinnamon buns, kolaches and other sweet rolls.
  • Cookies and Bars — Recipes for a dozen (or less) cookies, or a small pan of bars or brownies will satisfy our panel’s sweet tooth.
  • Sweet Desserts — Don’t forget to send us downsized snack cakes, cupcakes or pies as well as baked tarts and cheesecakes.

We’ll select a Grand Prize, second-place and third-place winner plus five runners-up. The top eight winners will be announced in the Winter 2009 issue. For complete contest rules, see the box at left.

Deadline is April 5, 2008. Good things do come in small packages, and if your recipe is one of them, you could reap big rewards!

Contest Prizes

In each contest, we’ll select three top winners, plus five runners-up. The winner whose recipe is judged “best of the best” and takes our Grand Prize will receive $500.00 in cash!

Our second-place winner will cash in, too. The cook whose recipe takes the No. 2 spot will receive $250.00.

For third place, we’ll award a prize that would thrill any cook—a Euro-Pro Convection Toaster Oven valued at $89.99. With its extra-deep dimensions, this countertop oven is big enough to bake pies, broil a whole chicken, or even cook a pizza (a pizza stone is included). But you’ll save on energy…and won’t heat up the whole kitchen when you use it.

In addition, we’ll award prizes to five runners-up. Each of these creative cooks will receive Taste of Home’s Quick-Fry Electric Skillet, valued at $24.99. At 7 inches, this handy appliance is sized just right for preparing meals for one or two.

Contest Rules

You may enter more than one recipe, but be sure to include your full name, street address and phone number, including area code, with each entry. If you are sending entries by regular mail, made sure you print or type your recipe on only one side of a sheet of paper.

Be specific with measurements, directions and the size of cans, packages and pans so others can successfully make your recipe.

Please include a few words about the origin of your recipe, any variations and compliments you have received. If duplicates are received, entries with the earliest postmarks will be considered.

All entries become the property of Reiman Publications and will not be returned. Recipes not chosen for contests may be featured in future issues of Cooking for 2. If there isn’t room in the magazine, we may use them in other Reiman publications, cookbooks, promotional projects or on our Web sites.

Please include a few words about the recipe and a bit about yourself.

By submitting material for publication, you grant Reiman Media Group, Inc., its parent company, subsidiaries, affiliates, partners and licensees unrestricted use of the material, including your name, hometown and state. We reserve the right to modify, reproduce and distribute the material in any medium and in any manner. We may contact you via phone, E-mail or mail regarding your submission.

Thanks for participating and good luck!
